Prepare to set aside at least an hour of your time to install LaTeX. You should also be on campus or using a high-speed internet connection, since you will have to download a large file. To be able to use TeXShop you must make sure that a TeX distribution has been installed on your Mac beforehand. Download this file to your Mac, and unzip its contents into a directory where you'd like to begin working on your thesis.
